anyways
it is so nice to see a character that’s been in a situation like devo has get out and not just be… fine? like, it’s somehow so encouraging to see a character like devo trying (and struggling) to get better.
like, he’s doing a terrible job at not mentally attacking every person he comes across, don’t get me wrong. but the fact we as people are able to understand when he is trying, and the fact that he still has the values he has to break from being in the benevolent parish is oddly comforting.
elaborating on what i said above, it’s so nice to see a portrayal of the fact that you don’t just lose all of the negative thought processes and habits that got imprinted into you growing up. that’s something you have to fix manually.
